The sliplining method is a cost-effective approach for the rehabilitation of 30-102-inches outside diameter live sewer lines with a slightly smaller diameter CCFRPM pipe to prolong the lifespan of failing infrastructure, eliminate the need for bypass pumping with minimal surface disruption. Before sliplining commences, the contractor removes the top half of the existing pipe and clears the tunnel of debris. The modular sliplining frame is lowered into the jacking shaft and can accommodate 10 or 20-foot pipe joints for installation in either direction. The jacking frame features a retention winch and pipe clamp to assist with positioning and counterbalance flow force during installation. The operator controls the main drive, bidirectional travel, brakes, speed control, frame elevators, pipe clamp, winch, E-Stop and lighting with a wireless remote controller. Thrust force is generated by two-speed dual or quad motors and chain driven planetary gearboxes that advance pipe axially into position assisted by speed sensors for consistent travel. The sliplining operation is powered by a 200 HP Electric Power Pack with three variable displacement pumps. Akkerman Sliplining Systems include a modular jacking frame and power pack and are sold as a complete system in dual (SLS 50, 65-ton) or quad motors (SLS 100, 130 ton) packages. Pipe specific sliplining mandrels or provers are sold separately.
